Planning Board Minutes

September 4, 2007

1. Call To Order: 7:00 p.m.

2. Attendance: Chair: George Sprowl, Vice Chair: Paul Leeper, Jack Degraff, Peter

Jolliffe, Dave Marceau, Steve Porter, and Wayne Thomas.

3. Review of Applications and Requests: None

4. Minutes: Review of July 17, 2007, August 7, 2007, and August 21, 2007 Minutes.

Motion made to accept all minutes with some minor corrections, Seconded,

passed unanimously.

5. Communications:

It has been the Planning Boards inspiration to have a knowledgeable group of town citizens form a sub-committee to help update and improve Searsmonts’ Comprehensive Plan, under the guidance of the Planning Board. Comprehensive Committee members as of date are Steve Paige, and Karen Withee. The Board is still waiting to hear a reply from Donna Raye Warren.

6. Old Business:

Shoreland Zoning discussions continued.

The process for updating the towns Shoreland Zoning Ordinances are as follows:

1. Review of the state updated ordinances and how it compares to the Town of

Searsmont.

2. Make updates in the towns either based on the states suggestions or adopt our own.

3. Hold a public informational meeting on it.

4. Have a public hearing.

5. Send revised updates that the town voted on for review to the DEP.

6. Have a town vote on state approved town changes no later than the state mandated date

of July 2008, for adoption.

Still, further discussions took place on adding necessary definitions into the Ordinance

for:

A. Foot print.

B. Retaining Wall

C. Rural Area
