Owners or keepers (caring for a dog that they do not own) must license dogs that have been in their care for more than 10 days and are over 6 months of age.
A current rabies vaccination certificate is required for registration, as well as proof of neuter/spay, if applicable.
Dog licenses are due December 31 of each year.
Through January 31: Grace period --No fine
Starting Feb 1: Late registration fine *$15.00 fine per dog*
*These are state mandated fines and are not negotiable.
WHEN DO YOU HAVE TO LICENSE A DOG?
- Within 10 days of acquiring a dog over 6 months old
- Within 10 days of moving into town
- When your puppy turns 6 months of age
- If you are keeping a dog for someone else for more than 10 days, and it is not registered in the town that you live in.
