Planning Board Minutes

March 3, 2009

 

1.        Call to Order: 7:00p.m.

 

2.        Attendance:  Chair: George Sprowl, Vice Chair: Paul Leeper, Peter Jolliffe, Dave Marceau, Jack Degraff and Andrea Walker.

 

3.        Minutes: 

a.       Motion made, seconded and passed to pass over the February 17, 2009 minutes until Nancy Robbins returns.

 

4.        Old Business:

a.       Review of state mandated changes to the shoreland zoning ordinance and ordinance language.

b.      Review language for postcard to be mailed to landowners on Wednesday.

                                                               i.      Dear Searsmont Landowner,

This postcard is to notify you that the State of Maine is mandating changes to the existing Shoreland Zoning Ordinance. In accordance with these changes, land you own is proposed to be zoned as resource protection.

 

There will be a public hearing on these proposed changes in the lower level of the Searsmont Community Center on March 11 at 7:00 p.m. The warrant article will be voted on at the Searsmont Town Meeting on March 28 at 9:00 a.m.

 

5.        New business:

a.       Motion made, seconded and passed to accept the warrant language as proposed:

                                                               i.      To see if the Town will vote to amend the Land Use Ordinance and the Town’s official shoreland zoning map to incorporate zoning related changes as required by the State of Maine Guidelines for Municipal Shoreland Zoning Ordinances (chapter 1000).  Copies of the “2009 Proposed Amendments to the Town of Searsmont, Maine, Land Use Ordinance” and “2009 Proposed Amended Town of Searsmont, Maine, Shoreland Zoning Map” are available from the Town Clerk.

 

Description: The planning Board Members propose the above amendment to bring the Searsmont Land Use Ordinance into compliance with the State of Maine’s Shoreland Zoning law.
