Planning Board Minutes

June 5, 2007

 

 

1.      Call to Order:  7:00 p.m.

 

2.      Attendance:  Chair: George Sprowl,  Vice Chair: Paul Leeper, Peter Jolliffe, and Jack

      Degraff.

 

3.      Review of Applications and Requests:  Jennifer Works of  00 Albion Lane, Searsmont, Me. presented the Board with an application for a  48x40 house with a deck and a new dock.

      Motion made, seconded and passed approval unanimously.

 

4.   Minutes: Review of May 15, 2007 Minutes. Motion made, seconded and passed

       with minor corrections.

 

5.   Communications:

 

·    There is a need to set a time for a town informational meeting, prior to Town meeting in March 2008, concerning the Timber Harvest State Mandated Laws.

·    Spoke with Frank Therio concerning who will be regulating the Timber Harvesting Laws if the town adopted the States plan.  Frank said it would not be him but the State Forestry employees.

·    Paul  updated the board on the States definitions in the Land Use 

             Plan and  their differences compared to Searsmonts.      

·    Bruce sent out letters for forming a Comprehensive Plan Sub-Committee to the following people: Evie Defrees, Donna Ray, Heather Kennedy, Steve Page, John Robbins, and Karen Withee.  Brad Drawbridge will be contacted. Any results of their response will be shared at Tuesday’s meeting.  None reported too have replied as of yet.

 

 

6.      Old Business:

 

·    Paul made a 21 page Copy of our Land Use Ordinance, compared it to States and put in the differences.  He  brought in a copy of it  and a discussion of the differences and similarities were  compared: further discussions will continue. 

 

 

·   Discussions on Shoreland Zoning Ordinance brought up several  questions:

 

A. Shoreland Zoning Maps need to be updated. Shorebird habitat needs to be included. Pete will  map this out.

 

B. Does Searsmont want to put  the 20% steep slopes into resource protection on Shoreland maps?
